The reason for Gold and mining stocks not performing is due to the huge S&P and Nasdaq/nvidia bubble... That's where all the cash is currently. In 2011 the general US stock market was NOT over inflated.As I've said many times that bubble has to POP before we really see commodities and Precious metals mining stocks do what we think. But I do believe Gold is leading this and always has in history. Silver will follow.
But ALL bubbles pop eventually.
