That's all good and well, but it doesn't really change the fact that having shorts on the register can be an asset, as they are a demand driver for AGY shares. When that next upward leg does occur (and I agree that it will), it's inconsequential for the shorts, because they (mostly) already exited. That demand driver is gone, and all that's left is company fundamentals and lithium macro (both of which are terrible). Consider for a moment that in the last month, 15m share purchases were shorts closing out their positions. It's clearly acted as support for the share price. What happens when that support is gone, and you're still waiting for the next upward leg, because it's coming later, rather than sooner?
Never mind, I already know the answer - "I'll just buy more".
