they're a community that raises a lot of money for a range of recipients. they can raise a lot of $ for candidates and swing an election if they set up to do.
I'm not against the Muslim community doing this was Christian orgs, including the Catholics, the Brethren Elect, Salvos etc, and Jews have been doing this for decades.
but the Muslim movement might be more cohesive, democratic and organised than say.... the Liberal Party.
