    Good morning BD,

I'm not sure if your first sentence is sarcasm or fair dinkum!

I'll work on the assumption you are a fair dinkum sort of bloke. Tides and waves are are vastly different phenomena, thus some of the possible combinations are...
    1. Huge waves at low tide.....can be a significantly back-breaking time! Often described as "sucky".
    2. Small waves at high tide ....can be a boring time, often described as "flat as a tack".

Plus a plethora of other possibilities, obviously. This illustrates that tides and waves are vastly different concepts. Waves are wind dependent and superficial and are therefore described as wind swells, even ground swells ultimately are wind driven because major storm events, such as cyclones, involve extremely strong winds! They also involve travelling much greater distances.

Tides on the other hand, according to my limited knowledge are driven by the movement of the moon and involve a much deeper water movement, thus involve massive volumetric water movement. Yes, BD waves and tides are different concepts.....I'm kinda surprised growing up by the sea you hadn't observed that distinction!....oh well, I guess better late than never!

Thanks, BD, for clarifying that CCE generators are waves-driven. I wonder if any research has been carried out on harnessing tidal water movement? Tides are in a constant state of flux....either flowing in or out, and would therefore, represent a far more consistent form of energy than waves.

I couldn't help but notice your seemingly contradictory attitudes towards CCE, on the one hand, cynical, on the other, invested. Are your 2 hands living in harmony.....or do they fight?

    Hooroo, Wes
