Personally I don't think Islam is a beacon of freedom, human rights or progressive thinking. Organised? Yep, but what are the aims of that organisation?

Outside of the Middle East there are working democracies with a majority a Muslim majority population eg. Indonesia, Senegal, Tunisia and Turkey. Mali could be described as a democracy but it is a chaotic country that is on the "do not travel" list of many many countries, including Australia. (Nb. it's noted that Muslims fleeing the Middle East try to get to Australia and not stay in Indonesia despite it being a functioning democracy..... read into that what you will).

The Israeli's left Gaza for it to have an election and form a democracy. After the election the winners "disappeared" the losing opposition.

Pakistan is a large Islamist country right. Doe you think it has a functioning, true and fair democracy? Ask Imran Khan for an answer to that one.

In the Middle East, where Albo now imports his Muslim voters? Israel is described as a democracy as is Iraq. Iran pretends to be a democracy but is run in a theocratic manner.

the Liberal Party (NSW) has been a real beacon showing the light of dysfunction that has existed for decades. now their disorganisation has shown through the mist and fog to spotlight the incompetence of the Party generally. did you see the 7.30 report on this last night? maybe biased toward the Liberal Party but there it is.

the Muslim people donate a literal tithe of their income (10%) as a standard function of their religion. through this means they support the most disadvantaged, the most poor and incapable of their people. the distribution of funds is very well organised. there is strong consensus among Muslims because its written in the core functions of the religion.

I'm not referring to individual countries in this, but to the global religious organisation. but perhaps democracy is the wrong word. I'm happy to accept the correction. but Pakistan has a lot of problems just like many other underdeveloped countries. the religion is the issue here though, not the individual tribes or countries.

but Khan is another story altogether. according to many reports he is a populist who has been involved in corruption. this is not to say that corruption doesn't exist but refers more to the internecine struggles for power which dominate many democracies.
