This "if you are unable to deal with a pretty obvious joke" is not a retraction.
You aren't even explicitly saying you were joking. And I don't believe you were joking.
I've told and heard plenty of bad jokes in my life and made plenty of mistakes - defending a friend or fellow 'sinner; for lack of a better word - could even be admirable from some standpoints when perhaps one shouldn't as it might be a bad judgement call and the friend wasn't under attack.
Cracking a black joke or a torturing kittens joke might not be funny if your courting a black girl or applying to work with animals (or even if you are not) - but even that isn't permanently damning of character.
This "then that just makes you look like a narcissist" - that's a sledge in my opinion of the type I can get on pretty much any day of the week by posting something holders don't like anywhere on this forum.

I've absolutely no use for a sycophant - and I'm useless myself if I'm too precious but the mere suggestion of a poor joke coupled with a suggestion I'm not just humorless but a narcissist? That's it?
