Indeed ineresting times in the Paterson ahead...I would love for IGO to make a big balls move and consolidate the region, they seem the obvious mid tier player that could pull it off with Newmont pulling out and Rio not showing major interest. Some of IGO's nickel assets (Nova etc) are nearing the end of their life and could be keen on diversifying further into gold and copper (after getting into lithium with Greenbushes). 500 million AUD figure was thrown around for Telfer and 70% of Havieron (i.e. ~5 million Au ounces)...by that logic they could get Winu (~10 million AuEq ounces?) plus 66% of Calibre from Rio for a billion, and throw in ~500 million for us (for our let's say combined ~4 million AuEq ounces after MRE updates) and dominant landholding. Would give us a value of approx. 9 cents per share, or a good 7 bagger from here, not too shabby.
Would be nice if IGO forks out 2 billion (half their market cap, so no joke) and gets on with it, they could sweeten the deal with Greatland, e.g. pay less but offer a 50/50 JV for Telfer and Havieron. Greatland should be keen to welcome an experienced underground miner to the JV, so win win. Anyways, not too long ago SFR did a big ballls move and acquired MATSA for 2 billion and had even less market cap than IGO now and it worked out splendidly for them...one can dream I guess!
