well ----------- if your car industry closes because tariffs were removed

then the statement should really be more like 'failed industry collapses when supports are removed'

what it proved was that Australia cannot compete with the world

which should have meant that Australia learned to do things so it 'could compete'

but, as usual - Oz did nothing. When the simple hammer of tariffs was removed - Oz was found wanting - and had and still has NO DRIVE to make foundational changes

without which - Australia will just depend on the luck of mining booms and sydney house prices - when that luck runs out -

what do we expect will happen?

tis not the fault of Labor ------------- tis the chookies coming home - as predicted

the luck - has run out
