I took my dog to visit Mrs H today and as we walked down the footpath we were confronted by two stone curlews protecting their eggs. You can't say that they were protecting their nest because the don't have one, the eggs were just lying on the ground in the middle of the footpath. I don't carry a phone so can only post a stock photo, but these two birds with wings and feathers extended would scare off anything but a honey badger.

This pic doesn't do justice to their aggression.
