Yes, there are small pockets left here and there but it is all compromised . Faulted. High CO2 etc.
Esso Australia has been the operator for over 50 years and over the last 20 years has done the largest and most expensive seismic surveys that Bass Strait it has ever seen. They know the area better than anyone. They have an extensive platform and pipeline network including the Longford gas plant and pipelines running all the way to Melbourne.
Don't forget that Esso has been supplying most of Victoria's gas for over 50 years .
3D has been poking around forever in Esso's rejected explorations and have come up with nothing commercial.
Now Esso is pulling out of Bass Strait as there are no more commercial plays left .
" He said the Gippsland Basin joint venture’s producing wells had shrunk from 122 in 2010 to 68 today, and would drop to 36 by next winter. The 70 per cent reduction in producing wells since 2010 cuts its ability to step in and cover for outages and to meet peak demand. "
