I disagree. Algos arn't an issue. Who says they are even profitable? Let them trade between one another on lower timeframes, its ok to look at if you're scalping but doesn't apply in other situations. Supply and demand moves markets, and in order for larger players to take a position they need to wait for liquidity. Algos don't make markets, supply and demand do, and liquidation occurs to those who don't understand this (retail) and trade with incorrect charting methods like support and resistance or candelstick patterns in isolation etc.
I know its easy for everyone to blame some grand conspiracy, but the perhaps the simple reasons for a lack of demand in resource companies is
1- lack of education in resources (environmental movement demeaning mining)
2- other, less risky investment options at the moment 5% deposit rate
3- Australians being taught that property is the end all and be all and are now spending all their desposible income paying interest on the mortgages (CBA stock price
)
4- a saturation of non-performing, lifestyle explorors and developers who do nothing but suttelly misrepresent their potential and only announce dilution, also take away some of the limited funds from the quality companies (you are seeing a lot of them going broke atm)
Thank goodness for foreign investment, without them Australia would just be a environmental bush loving, stimmicheck collecting, real estate gambling house with nothing of value being created and exported.
