Birdbrain has raised the heat wave that afflicted the 48 contiguous US states in the 1930s.
as you can see from the graphic, it was indeed extreme.
but so what?
as with many postings from those who deny anthropogenic global warming and the climate change it brings, birdie has chosen to omit the global context of the heat wave that might make it relevant to any discussion of today's rapid global warming.
in short, a distinguishing feature of the US heat wave in the 1930s was that it was peculiarly based just in the continental US and was caused by local factors. We've all seen photos of the US dust bowl, or read John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath, or tapped other sources.
Other parts of the world weren't affected.
that of course is the big difference between global warming now and the US heat wave in the 1930s.
the warming today is global.
