The presence of tantalum, niobium and rare earth element bearing minerals such as pyrochlore, bastnasite, monazite and zircon has been confirmed by independent consultants SRK Consulting at the Ram Resources (ASX: RMR) Aries prospect, located within the company's Motzfeldt Project in southern Greenland.

The study was based on nine samples sourced from drill core and surface samples, and confirms the main associations of tantalum and niobium minerals to be in the coarse grained pegmatite syenite, with the majority of the tantalum and niobium mineralisation held within the pyrochlore group of minerals.

Geus identified an exploration target mineralised zone (tantalum and niobium) of up to 500 million tonnes at Aries, based on geophysics and surface sampling.

With the majority of minerals of economic importance relatively coarse grained minerals, minerals processing would appear to be straightforward to recover and concentrate by milling and heavy mineral separation.

Ram considers that Motzfeldt has the potential to become a world class, multi element project, located in a country with very little political risk due to the stable government.

The Greenland government is actively encouraging exploration activity, with little red tape due to a single agency responsible for exploration, mining and environmental approvals, with no government royalties or specific mining taxes.

The Motzfeldt project is located in the south of Greenland, and is 24km to the east of the town of Narsarsuaq, which is a transport hub with a harbour and international airport.

The Greenland Minerals and Energy (ASX: GGG) Kvanefjeld projected is also nearby, located 40km to the south-east of Motzfeldt.

The Ram main objective for the 2011 program at Aries is to extend the existing drilling along strike, with the objective to produce an inferred resource at the prospect.

The company will look to achieve this by 4,000 metres of drilling to extend 1,200 metres along strike of previous drilling, along with ground geophysics to extend the data coverage and to assist in drill targeting.
