Yes a preparation plant/washplant required to get the 7% product ash for coking coal. The original plan was to mine the Pit 1 and Pit 2 PCI coal at about 5% ash from memory. Pits 3 & 4 coking coal were to be mined after a preparation plant was constructed. One can only speculate why Pit 3 was the starting point?
