The industry should have seen this coming years ago. If they’re not lucky the Germans will end up like Australia…supported 3 car makers, then 2, then 1, then 0. Couldn’t compete with the cheap (but well built) imports. Governments tried subsidising for years…it was all swallowed up in a black hole.
ADO’s glue might give Mercedes et al a bit of help. But will it be enough? Unlikely IMO. So using the glue saves them $500/car. Meanwhile the Chinese import comes in $20,000 cheaper per unit. No contest.
Just my musings. I could be wrong.
