I've always had a dog until Ted died[pic] about 10 years ago. 2 years later I got some chooks after I spent a year building the new chook shed[$1,000!] in the existing 12m x 12m pen. Since then i've eaten about 2 eggs a day and can usually give some to my sister and a neighbour, currently 5 chooks.

Apart from having very nutritious eggs I also have 5 new pets who give me a lot of pleasure, especially when I let them out for an hour before it gets dark and they take off to explore our 5acres. The fact that they have their own personalities makes it even more atrocious that 'free range eggs' are marketed as having no more than 10,000 chooks to the hectare which is 1sq/m each and would be 144 in my chook pen instead of 5. I would go to about 10 max.

I felt slack because I usually boil 7 eggs at a time to keep in the fridge for convenience but felt better when I read that boiling them is actually the best way to make sure you get the most out of them, which makes sense when you think about it.

That was the short version as anyone with chooks would appreciate.
