"a political leader to rise to the occasion and bring parliament and the people together with a vision for addressing the supply of public housing". .. I'm sure Dutton and Taylor would put themselves forward as such achievers. such people are often self-aggrandising liars, eg Hawke and Rudd. Abbott and Trembel and Morrison.
yep, certainly Howard rose to the occasion and secured a remarkable achievement that has likely saved many lives. and his courage in standing before the assembled crowd that day was a prime example of what my old dad exemplified. the courage to stand up to bullies.
imo theres not a person in parliament who has the courage of Howard. certainly not Albanese. he seems to be overly conciliatory in his desire to secure his legislation with bipartisan agreement. imo this is laziness in that if he wants legislation to withstand the next LibNat govt, he needs to forget it. this is the key, signal failure of party politics.
I agree on your summation on social housing. it typifies the problem that Albanese is facing, trying to negotiate..... but Abbott showed the disregard for Labor legislation as he set about, from day one of his PMship, demolishing as much Gillard laws as he could.
this is why I'm so determined to encourage the ditching of political parties FF. neither side are comprised of capable people, intelligent enough to be inclusive and manage outcomes that are achievable rather than ideological. and the Adversarial approach taken by the Libs, not so strong among Labs, to the role of opposition.
its why I welcome the advent of climate 200 and the teal movement.
