What exactly is magnetic about a gap?
The initial gap is regarded as an issue because that price area wasn't traded through, thus implying that the trading after that has some weakness in the foundation.
Once the price returns to the pre-gap level, that issue is resolved.
And that is the definition of a gap-fill.
All that being said, I actually think the main reason gaps are magnetic is because traders know there's a gap there which they think should be filled, lol.
As is the case with many charting indicators these days - somewhat self-fulFILLing.
