Hi
@TauriskI listen to many various types of music (as many others do). On first hearing of some songs/tunes - sometimes even after only a bar or two, some are dismissed as not to my liking - perhaps a little unfair on the writer/performer but music is like that and we as people can be very fickle - thus not necessarily all tunes are 'sweet' sounds to the listener.
With many other tunes, they tend to grow on you over many listenings - many new songs on commercial radio are played with monotonous regularity for a period of time - almost incessantly, and tend to get in people's psyche - some get into 'charts' too. But for me personally, getting into 'charts' is not the only measure of achievement, am not interested in being on any chart but was challenging myself to see whether I could actually write and ultimately record some material - and glad to say I succeeded on both counts to conquer what till then was 'uncharted' territory - a chapter in my life past. In any event, I took off the posts with my material as posted earlier (perhaps a sigh of relief by some)?
Believe also that it is much easier to critique someone's work, whether harshly or otherwise than to actually create any new or even rehashed material. There were a select few who enjoyed most of the music I recorded - but of course there were some who had less positive comments. I take the good and bad without ill feeling.
Re Hungarians - years ago I studied a subject as an external student at the Conservatorium of Sydney. The lecturer apparently had a Hungarian hubby, but one she couldn't handle (perhaps from the hubby's perspective it was the other way around.)
Glad to say that on the lecturing front she handled herself magnificently but more so I could handle the studies well too.
There appears to be something about Magyars that some people have trouble with. Ouch.
My father was critical of me studying music and in particular the guitar - he would have liked for me to play the violin - a little ironic - given the thread. Perhaps it's my way of showing that I too have taken a liking to the sounds of the violin.
