yet cutting expenses is not a blanket answer to inflation. the expenditures of the current mob claim that their spending has "kept Aus out of recession". technically this is probably correct, but to what end? to deliberately alter the status of our economy simply by spending is not a successful manoeuvre to deal with the problem. far better to have factual recessionary data than fiscal manipulation.

yet everyone is screaming for cost of living relief. and its the state of the nation that is suffering. so should the Albanese mob slash spending and let people suffer far worse than they are now? or is such spending justified to keep the record clean?

but they managed 2 x surpluses through cutting expenses during the worst of the inflationary cycle.

theres no fat on the health system. those people sitting at desks are doing the important processing of patient information. triage can only allow people into ED when theres a bed available. and triage nurses don't make these decisions anyway. they simply prioritise who should be taken in for medical attention and relay this to the medical and senior nurses for their attention.

but the key to the problems of getting medical attention were the product of cost cutting by the former govts, beginning in 2013 when GP medicare payments were frozen for 5 years. this caused many practices to charge a gap fee that Abbott was pushing. and this in turn sent more people to ED who would normally have seen a GP.... all because of an ill-considered policy cost cutting move.

and its a massive task to repair this problem. not only does Govt have to catch up with GP costs so they can run their practices and make a living, but they need to convince those who've become dependent on ED services to go back to the GPs. not an easy task.
