Was curious and wanted to understand. Been paying a lot more attention to macro last few years as being able to understand geology (re commodities), projects, financial statements, corporate execution etc only gets you so far.
Have also had the luck of working and managing businesses in many jurisdictions globally over a few decades, resources related businesses.
Saw some economic collapses first hand (asian financial crisis in the 90s in indo and thailand et al) and worked in the US over a few years (early 2000s) so lucky to have seen a few cycles over a few years.
Just wanted to understand what caused such things and what to look for.
Intuition helps once you've seen a few cycles, the subconscious telling the conscious we've seen this before (according to a police profiler buddy of mine)
It's all come together a lot more in recent years due to the availability of so much quality information on the internet once you know how go discern the quality from the click bait.
Still just a punter having a go and far from being right a lot of the time. Timing is the hardest frame of reference to get correct.
