I dont think there would be much return for the gov, EVs generally are charged at the home, the infrastructure cost would be a nightmare, even Tesla with economies of scale and engineering know-how is struggling to return a profit on charging stations. QLD gov is doing 1 thing right, that is going into hydro. Other missing part is offshore wind, which can fully replace the GW of energy produced by coal plants 2 times over.
The interesting question for QLD is future revenue once there isnt anymore royalties or duties etc from fossil fuels. They could go the route of exporting surplus energy overseas like sun cable project.
