You dont understand great powers' sphere of interest IMO.
Just forget this war for a moment and let me give you an example:
Do you really think that the US would allow Mexico to team up with China including allowing China to place Chinese WMD along the Rio Grande border with the USA and aimed at US population centres?
When Cuba attempted that with the USSR in 1962 it just about triggered WW3.
And so it is with the Ukraine & Russia, IMO.....hence the current war. There are 2 competing principles here: (a) The Ukraine's right to decide on joining NATO and what that implies. (b) Russia's perception of (a) as a National Security threat to Russia.
IMO you can argue until you are blue in the face, mate, that only (a) matters but that wont either explain or resolve this war.
