So tackling an out of control program that's costing $45Bn a year is too hard, but significantly increasing tax payable is OK? Doesn't get my vote sorry.
In reality, the cost of the program doesn't need to be cut in half. The growth in the cost of the program needs to be significantly reduced. Allow tax receipts to grow faster than than expenditure growth.
Re the NDIS specifically, tighten access. Reduce qualifying payments. Re-design the mechanics of the scheme itself. It's clearly not fit for purpose and it's blowing a material hole in the structural deficit.
This is the job of Politicians. If it's too hard for them, find new ones.
I'm not against the NDIS as a policy, I'm against this version of it.
