Yep RamPage, that's right. It is not the government's job to spend my money in this fashion. I am quite capable of helping people in other countries myself, thank you very much (and do).
But if they DO have to do it, are they not aware that $10 to provide a well here, or $495 for a buffalo there or whatever, spent in the country of origin, can provide so much benefit for so many? In lots of cases a permanent benefit, without repeating the gift next year. Instead of giving $100,000 p.a to these ten people you could benefit over 1,000 people per year in other circumstances.; maybe 30,000 or 40,000 people over a twenty year period.
