That's hypothetical because the person who made the statement is not the person currently making the decisions. You know, force majeure and all that. If you look at the track record of those people I wouldn't trust them to tie my shoelaces.
People need to forget about 3D, it isn't going to happen. If you wanted 3D, you should never have bought in. 2D is what we have, and gasfields have been found with 2D all over the globe. Either you trust 2D, or you don't.
