Very often the case, but this time feels different.
You can only stretch an elastic so many times and have it meekly return to its original shape. Eventually its resistance wears down, and when you're least expecting it, it gives up the ghost.
At some stage the instos will decide they are having to expend too much ammo to control this. It only takes one large one to break ranks and the band snaps. Then all hell breaks loose.
The catalyst maybe something momentous or something innocuous, but its effects will be dramatic
