    Not specifically they didn't. It's treated in the same manner as any other income or loss generated in your personal name.

    It's not a concession or subsidy IMO. It's treated the same way as everything else. To change that would be a distortion of the tax system, which allows for losses generated by an individual, in whatever form, to be offset against other income.
