The following chart considers volume vs average rolling 1 week SPR share price over the last 12 months in 1 or 2 week rolling trading volume figures. I have excluded volumes spikes on RMS buying, spikes on announcement days and index rebalancing.
The high volume in the last 1-2 weeks (actually 11 trading days excluding the ASX300 rebalance day) really sticks out - volume has really escalated since the ASX 300 rebalance date while volume was quite stable for about the last 6 months until the last 1-2 weeks - ie around 5m a day with a range of 4-6m per day while the last week (after the rebalance) its about double that level. I also note the short positions went up from 20 September (from 0.43 % on 19th to to 1.87% on 20th) the day of the ASX 300 rebalance which in my view is NOT a coincidence.
Not sure what will happen to the SP and volume going forward nor what will happen to short positions.
