It will be somewhat better if the company settles privately, and I am sure they know this. if there was some kind of major courtcase, much dirty laundry (from the old OZ, not the new OZ), would be aired, and sentiment would be terrible. If a settlement is swift and quiet, we could bypass the negative sentiment. Having said that, the ACCC found recently that OZL had done no wrong re disclosure, so OZL might want to take on the shareholders. There's a huge risk in this, though. The media does like a scandal, and if OZL is in the newspapers every day with some details of this, it won't be good for the share price. It's one thing for an ANN to come out about it, but quite another when when a legal battle is taking place imminently.
