The order will be worth up to Eur 4.9m over 2 years.


The fuel cells run directly on natural gas.


EWE will install the units in homes in the Lower Saxony region of Northern Germany. They will provide homes with electricity, hot water and heating.


The order is conditional on EWE receiving partial funding under the German government?s national hydrogen and fuel cell technology innovation program, with a decision expected in early 2011. The order is also subject to the units meeting certain performance targets.


If both criteria are met, EWE will order 70 units for delivery in 2011 and 130 units for delivery in 2012.
