I have had an honest look at solar wall (13,8kwh) in my house costing about 12K. I already have rooftop solar (6,6kW) with feed in tariff of 10c a unit. I pay 30c a unit.
My contract is set for another six years at that rate, otherwise if I install a battery I will rescind my contract and get a 2c feed in tariff or pay for a feed in tariff at certain times of the day.
    So,
if I can get 10 units a day (80% discharge) out of my battery for 365 days a year for 10 years (expected cycle), 10 X $0.30 X 365 X 10 I could recoup $10,950 of my $12000 outlay but lose my existing 10c feed in tariff which I am guaranteed for another six years. This doesn't include NPV!
I think our government are being disingenuous but not offering battery rebates but at the same time, by them promoting them are risking house fires like the pink batt scheme. Where do I put my solar wall in case it does catch fire!
Therefore the answer is fairly simple of having council run battery banks stored in a fire bund near the local water storage. Therefore all residents of an area can feed into that battery.
There is a good reason we have not adopted large scale batteries because they are so dam expensive and ineffectual!
And we are all still waiting!
