On April 2, 2024 GE Aerospace and GE Vernova launched as independent companies, both of which continue to operate at a 1,500 acre site near Wilmington, NC.
The site, which has operated since 1968, remains the global headquarters to GE Vernova’s Nuclear business, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, a leader in new plants, fuels and services.
GE Hitachi has a long history of support for the nuclear power industry, having designed Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants, manufactured fuel for them and joined with our customers in
servicing and keeping those plants running optimally for more than six decades.
As part of GE Vernova, we are investing in advanced nuclear technologies like the BWRX-300 small modular reactor which is designed to provide carbon-free, flexible, on-demand electricity while also helping nations meet their energy security goals.
At this site, the GE Vernova-led Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) joint venture manufactures fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulates our fuel fabrication operation in which low-enriched uranium is pressed into pellets, loaded into bundles and shipped to commercial nuclear power plants.

The NRC regularly reviews and performs inspections against our license.
Its most recent review in April 2023 determined that our facility continues to conduct activities safely and securely and in a manner that protects public health and the environment.
Our Environmental, Health and Safety personnel closely monitor water and air emissions to stay compliant with requirements of the NRC, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and
North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.
Our fire protection program is frequently monitored by county deputyfire marshals to ensure compliance with fire safety codes regulated by the State of North Carolina. A robust monitoring
program is in place to check for radiation, including the use of air monitoring stations and periodic water and soil sampling.
The North Carolina Radiation Protection Section, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration also regulate portions of
    our operations.

The safety of our employees, workplace, customers and neighbors is our top priority. We continually train our emergency responders, conduct emergency response drills on a quarterly basis and also schedule drills with outside emergency services organizations and provide them training about our facilities. We periodically test our alarm systems on
site to ensure the safety of our employees.
