Yeah if you look at the chart it became heavily overbought and was due a correction.
There is certainly the chance a big entity was short and was getting hammered so a negative media spin game was run after it had turned or an entity wanted onboard at cheaper prices so the same game was spun, or some other reason.
Paradoxically this looks to be good to build a solid base from in that all the weak hands have exited, whoever ran this game won't get away with it again using the same trick. Volume looks to have normalised, all thats really happened is that waf has come back down into its consolidation pattern before it blasted higher.
We just need the Gold correction to run its course and providing the US Broader Ponzi remains in one piece things should be fine.
