Makutuu is ca. 93% light rare earth incl. yttrium, and sports proportional 55% of uneconomic lanthanum and cerium.
Makutuu is not unlike some IAC deposits in the south of China’s Yunnan province, which look quite at bit bastnaesity.
By rule of thumb you can say, that so-called ‘light rare earth’ deposits typically contain >70% of lanthanum and cerium. In so-called ‘heavy rare earth’ deposits the the lanthanum and cerium content is proportionally lower, but the trade-off is an often extremely elevated proportional yttrium content.
