Last night, our customers, partners and industry leaders gathered at Optus Stadium for our Siemens Xcelerator – Beyond 1% cocktail function in Perth where we collectively discussed how WA and Australia can excel in decarbonizing the world beyond the 1% of emissions we are responsible for. Keynote speaker, the Hon. Reece Whitby MLA, who has a wealth of experience in energy, environment, and climate action, stressed the importance of tackling climate change and talked about how the state can punch above its weight in the global #NetZero race. Peter Halliday, CEO of Siemens Australia and New Zealand, remarked that WA is no stranger to setting benchmarks using digitalization and technology, noting stand out examples such as Optus Stadium that has one of world’s most advanced stadium CCTV security systems.

A panel comprised of Dr. Jeffrey Wilson, Director of Research and Economics at Australian Industry Group (Ai Group); Graham Arvidson, CEO of Australian Vanadium Limited; Jacinda Papps, General Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance at Alinta Energy; and Shohan Seneviratne, CEO of Murchison Green Hydrogen, moderated by Keith Ritchie, discussed the integral link between the #EnergyTransition and energy security from diverse sources.

The panel discussed the need for increased collaboration in key areas such as battery production, BESS, hydrogen, and policy research, all powered by digitalization and technology.
