Thanks for posting. Note just the afr editorial view. It’s a logical aim to benefit the consumers but I’m not sure how realistic it is. Be great to make lots of things cheaper but the cost of doing business plus some profit on top is what it is. Were/are the profits excessive? Pretty hard to determine that but not if the sp of tyro and SmartPay are any gauge. What is excessive profit? How does one determine that? I guess one knows it when one sees it.
I don’t think this will be a clear cut situation because the service still needs to be provided and providers still need to cover their costs plus it has to be worth their while to do it so there has to be profit in it.
could lead to industry consolidation too I reckon. The more I think about it the more it seems smp would be a likely target for an acquirer. Changing sentiment to buy.
