As the year draws to a close I look at my portfolio and see SSN as my best performing stock. It isn't finishing the year at it's peak nor did it live up to some of the short term predictions but no matter how I look at it, all of my other investments were a waste of time and money in comparison.

I'd like to say SSN was pretty average for me and all my others went off big time but sadly that isn't true. I didn't have any 10 baggers this year and looking at my other investments reminds me that had I moved my money from SSN chasing "better opportunities elsewhere" my portfolio wouldn't look nearly as good right now. I guess this just proves I'm not as smart as many who have multi baggers lined up awaiting their cash to be freed up, or maybe thats just the difference between investors and traders.

Don't get me wrong, half of the stocks in my portfolio have returned at least 10 times the prevailing bank term deposit rates this year so I'm glad most of my money has been in the market this year but having it all in SSN would have been so much better (in retrospect).

So SSN ran hard in the middle of the year and tappered off while we wait for the next stage to progress. I wasn't insightful enough to buy it at 1c early on like many but the story that got me on board at 2c surely required a lot more hope and pure faith than what we have before us now with bucket loads of cash, debts paid off, everybody lining up for land that we already own, wells producing etc.

We all know that big things take time to unfold and I don't see many posters now doubting the possible / likely outcomes going forward, just impatience about our ability to pocket the big returns that we have all banked in our minds. This year SSN clearly turned the corner and appears to be on a path to much bigger things. If the story is in tact and the performance of the stock over the year has been outstanding (as it has been for most of us) then this leaves me to question why anybody would threaten to celebrate xmas by eating the goose that is laying the golden eggs if it fails to push out something three times it's own weight in an arbitary timeframe like the next few days.

Keep you left one Doc, working or not. If there is anything that has been learned from this year it is surely that once cut off it isn't always painless to redeploy them, and it could be costly to have them reattached in late January if your guess was just slightly out.

This is not investment advise and you are all welcome to cut off both if you so desire. I should add that this is not medical advise either so don't go cutting anything off on my say so. Just my observations and opinion.
