Syrah has overwhelmingly benefitted the local and wider community in Moz and helped stimulate its broader economic profile. On top of that Syrah actively engages with local communities addressing their needs through corporate social responsibility programmes. (Schools, healthcare and agricultural programs).
Without delving too deeply into the geopolitics - there has never been any suggestion that nationalisation has ever been considered and is mainly used as an argument by the FUD squad.
Any such move would ruin Mozambiques international reputation and would destroy foreign investor confidence in the country - severely restricting foreign capital flow into the country for decades.
It makes more sense for Moz to want other nationalities invested in its country for diversification and to avoid too much investment from China. It also gives it a higher profile on the world economic stage as a stable geography which welcomes international trade.
Not forgetting that major multinational investment banks are also backing Syrah…and in part the American Government through its loans initiatives.
