Many such complex new products have issues in the first production & without somebody having the courage to first build it & another to use it, we would get nowhere. We all know that.
Yes we’d like perfection at the start - but it is rare. The first solar panels I had delaminated in the first year and they were a big brand that I won’t mention here. The current set are going strong after 13years.
The first lithium battery systems and inverters were problematical to say the least. As for lead acid bms systems - I wonder how we survived some of that crap.
I tried a small home wind turbine - still have dents in my roof.
The point is to try - if it fails you’ve learned, and apply that lesson to rebuilding.
But sabine, you are correct in thinking each failure sets us back - both in progress and thinking. Some will give up, while others (China) will ‘borrow’ the idea and build it. I’m sure they have many failures we never hear of.
I’d hate to see the effort expended here just vanish.
