Hi All, with a special shout out to 2ic - haven't heard from you for a few months, mate - hope all is OK ... Dupuytren's Contracture I know of a few people - one close to me - with the disabling problem, Dupuytren's Contracture. I've just flicked through a very interesting article that caught my eye. It suggested a supplement of interest - Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The article should be able to be located with some key words like 'Dr Mercola' + 'A Midwestern Doctor' + 'DMSO' + 'Dupuytren's Contracture'... Extracts in italics below are from the article, with due acknowledgment from me for the author's copyright. There's a video link to the 'Midwestern Doctor' within the article, too.(I'm not linking as don't want to breach any HC terms of service??)
I'm not endorsing anything at all and am not qualified to give health advice and have no intention of doing so. I am just reasonably well-informed and well-read in the health and nutrition area ... I stress, I have not looked further at this - or tested anything - nor do i intend to, because thankfully I don't have this problem. Best investment in yourself - pays lifetime, tax-free dividends that greedy Governments can't control I'm an investor and have been for years. Adopting a Warren Buffett approach, I take the view that the best investment you can make is in yourself, because if you can optimise your own performance (attitude, health, values, ability to focus, discipline, hard work etc) that surely must lead to better decision making --> better return on investment and so more choice -->, better cars, nicer wine choices, holidays, whatever.
Low quality, greedy and over-controlling governments (which sadly are surrounding us at the moment) can't control your thus improved thinking - and you will get tax-free dividends for life. It's a good use of time.
The article interestingly (at a quick look) mentioned:
It described the product as safe and highly effective for certain things. I have no idea but that could be duly checked out. It adds that it "is a simple and readily available naturally occurring chemical...";
The supplement is said to help stabilise and refold misfolded proteins, "offering hope for genetic disorders and diseases with protein build up (e.g.... Dupuytren's Contracture ...)". I have had personal great experience with quality supplements that help with errant proteins. This comment made sense to me, knowing what I do about Dupuytren's.
Several other issues that the supplement is said to assist with. What especially interested me was the fact that a person I know well (including their history) suffers not only from Dupuytren's Contracture but also from other conditions listed within article for which DMSO said to be a useful treatment.
Imagine if ... There was so much coincidence there, and couple with the possible proteins stabilisation/refolding thought, it seemed a bit unlikely to be just by chance - especially if the supplement works by addressing misguided proteins. So I've referred the article to my colleague for his/her proper consideration. The disabilities involved are considerable and worth a look at anything that might provide relief without producing significant effects. I'm just casting the net a bit wider here on the forum because I recall at least 3 readers here who mentioned they have Dupuytren's Contracture - and some have shown themselves to have tremendous research and analytical skills (e.g. where are you 2ic ??) so who knows what benefits might flow from a thoughtful consideration of the article.
Not looking for debate; just putting an idea out there. Now back to my Sunday 'agenda'... Cheers.
