if someone bought $10k when it was at its peak for that very short period of time, then they are very unlucky - especially if that was their only purchase and they have sold since. If they held and reinvested the dividends, bought more stock when it was below $25 and have a long term approach of buying and holding...then it will all even out at the end of the day (over 20-30 years).

I certainly don't care too much right now. I won't be selling any WBC shares at any stage - I don't have much compared to a lot of investors, but I do have enough imo - if WBC share price drops, then likely other banks will at the same time and I'd likely buy them instead of more WBC.

The dividends from my WBC shares will be paying for some of my bills when I am in retirement, e.g. council rates / esl / dog registration etc. So essentially I only really care about the dividends. It certainly isn't growth stock.
