Before getting excited I would clarify if 'the area' specifically means it was taken from pgd tenements. Seems like a strange thing to brag about if so. I think it's more likely they are referring to the general area.
prospectors are actually allowed to get a permit to explore on tenements, with the restrictions that they can only use hand tools, take 20kg of ore, and any finds are to be reported to the tenement holder, I don't know how strictly these rules are followed, I've never been on the ground there and been part of it all. I think at one point there was a couple permit holders likely getting carried away, but it was sorted pretty quick, thanks to black cat.
