Mate it is geology 101.You can have a seem laid down then right in the middle of it a fault it could drop the seem by up to a hundred plus metres up or down.There are many examples of this all around the NSW coal fields, of course if it is not too deep and can be reached by open cut methods it makes little difference underground it can be very complicated.An example of just how dramatic an effect geology can have would be the old Centennial mine at Munmorah in one section on the east side of the mine sandstone roof it wiuld stand up all day less 2ks away on the other side of the mine mudstone it would not stay up which met a difference of 30% in relative production between the 2 sections.At the end of the day its all part of mining you accept it and you plan for it. Thats why as i have said before you need experienced people running it. I know i have not been popular voice my doubts on management but i call it as i see it. Remember the SA company where CCC experienced people came from tried their hand in Australia in the 90s they failed miserably and bailed soon after.
