    THE QUESTIONS

    1. what results can we expect from the logging?

    See below.

    2. can the logging present any indications of the quantum of the gas, if there is gas there?

    On its own, No!
The SEISMIC survey will indicate the overall area of the formations of interest and the probable depth of same, and will, through interpretation, indicate if gas is likely to be present. This information can then be formulated to give a volume of formation size, and by extension, a volume of gas in place within that formation, IF GAS IS PRESENT. Bear in mind that 30% of gas in place is the probable maximum that is able to be recovered from most fields.
If gas is present, the logs will then determine the exact makeup of the gas (necessary to determine one field from another, calorific values, etc.)
The logs may show that the formation may well be porous and gas saturated, to the point of spill, but with little or no permeability (tight), and then possibly whether a frac program needs to be instigated to open things up to allow the gas to flow. If it's too tight, they may well walk away from it.
The logs will also show the exact depth of all/any pay zones, which is necessary for perforating the casing at the right areas for possible future production from this field.
More information than can be listed here will be recorded.

    3. in general, what does logging achieve?

With the log results in hand, the PEP then becomes a far more saleable product, as everything that needs to be known, will be known (within the limitations of only one hole). The government would never license a future production well in this field without this information.

The Indians,(or others) will now pay dearly for this information if they want in, as it is critical to future development of these fields (with or without gas at this stage).

AND WE WILL HOLD ALL THE ACES.

Time for a beer for Christmas.

Cheers, and best wishes to all
