Oh Kingaroy, can't let that one slip by. Smoking is dangerous for those that smoke a lot and have genetic prediposition as well as lifestyle factors, e.g. Japanese heavy smokers have half the morbidity rates than Americans, google the study.
Fact: 88% of smokers do not contract cancer and of those that do, 90% attain 40 pack years, i.e. average pack a day for 40 years, again google the landmark epidemiology studies.
Smoking stinks, is unsociable, a somewhat expensive habit but by itself is not necessarily dangerous - depends on how much you smoke, genes and other lifestyle habits. Much like eating too much fatty foods.
