Things you find out when you want to know answers to certain questions. The local Community Bank was approached by me, where I bank and asked for their best term deposit interest. Given an interest rate of nearly one percent less than other Banks, with no negotiation. Reason given for the rate was the main Bendigo Bank set the rate. Contacted Bendigo Bank head office, told they give their maximum set interest rates to the Community Banks and that is it, and it was up to the local branches to give what interest they determine. I hope I am wrong, but I feel tremendous pressure is on the Community Bank to survive if it stays open. It employs locals and gives support to local sporting clubs and voluntary bodies. Just another bad omen for the local.
