I worked out the potential average open price for shorts since...

June 1st to Now - $16.17~
Jan 1 to now - $18~

A lot of assumptions go into this, but I am just doing it because i am curious not because I think it matters too much. It lumps all new short positions into the same bucket so isn't that useful to know what an individual company or group's average price is, but it is helpful to estimate. What is interesting is that the top largest net short days are as below.

They were all on the day of results. or the Culper report the only exception was November 8th which is the same day we gained 15%. I think it seems logical to assume that covering wants to occur as low as possible, but the position doubled from June 1st to now with an average price of roughly $16.17 and we're now (slightly) below that. If we continue to trade above that point and then the SBB comes in that will evaporate all of the profit from this highly successful trade. I think it is fair to assume that this was to stop the momentum, and it wasn't a response to the earnings report because unlike other earnings reports the shorts weren't added on the day of the event.

In the below chart you will notice that the average short price (orange) doesn't actually go down much in the last two months. That is because some months/days there was covering/reduction, so the average price only changes much when a lot of new positions are opened, and we don't have enough data yet to see an effect on the worm since it is a rolling/blended average.
