Don't worry TOPDAD, you and everyone at Wikipedia apparently -
"Hydraulic fracturing (called "frac jobs"[1] or "frac'ing" in the industry,[2] with the spelling "fracking" being common in media reports[3])"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_fracturing
Oh, and here is a pdf from the Natural Gas Supply Association -
http://www.ngsa.org/Assets/docs/issues/hydraulic%20fracturing%20for%20web%20site.pdf
It is entitled "Hydraulic Fracturing (?Fracking?) and the HBO Movie GasLand"
It goes on to discuss the spelling -
"Is it ?fracking,? ?fraccing,? ?fracking? or ?frac?ing??
There are almost as many ways to spell the shortened version of fracturing as there are flavors of ice cream. The spelling that appears to be prevailing is ?fracking,? but other spellings are commonly encountered."
Not a very pleasant practice for the environment however you spell it.
