Planting natives will encourage native wildlife and birds. If you are thinking of buying or adopting an animal or bird, think first about its social and other needs rather than your desire to have "something" in your yard. Also think about the costs of its health maintenance (shots, foot care, grooming, health checks) and whether you are really committed to the financial and other responsibilities of keeping animals. Having any animal requires a lot of daily care & interaction, too many people get an animal because they like the idea of it, without thinking about what is in the animal's best interests. Please think carefully about your choice!
